   The Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China directs the armed forces of the country.
   The CMC was established according to Article 93 of "The Constitution of the People's Republic of China", adopted at the 5th session of the 5th NPC held on Dec. 4, 1982.
   The CMC is composed of the chairman, vice-chairmen, and members. The chairman of the CMC is elected by the National People's Congress. The term of office of the CMC is five years.
